This is a heartwarming opportunity for compassionate providers who love making a difference! We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and patient part-time respite provider to care for two children with autism in their home. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with children, has experience with or an interest in working with children on the autism spectrum, and is looking for a flexible part-time opportunity.

Wage: $17.70/hr

Schedule
Minimum of 20 hours per month
Primarily Friday or Saturday evenings, approximately 7:00 PM–12:00 AM
Potential for every other weekend
Additional weekday after-school hours may become available if needed
During the summer, hours may include weekends and occasional daytime care while parents are away

Responsibilities
Provide attentive, engaging care in their home
Interact with the children through play, learning activities, and sensory activities
Supervise tablet time, learning games, YouTube, and favorite shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Spend one-on-one time with each child, as one enjoys having a caregiver actively sit and play with him
Ensure a safe environment, including close supervision for one child who has elopement (wandering) concerns
Prepare simple snacks or meals if needed
Once everyone is comfortable, there may be opportunities to take the children on outings in the community

About the Children

Experience working with children, especially children with autism, is preferred
Patient, understanding, dependable, and caring
Comfortable providing close supervision and maintaining a safe environment
Able to actively engage with the children rather than simply supervise
