Family Support Specialist – Support a Joyful Toddler in Cornell, WI

Make a meaningful impact while helping a toddler explore, grow, and thrive.

We are seeking a kind, dependable, and patient Family Support Specialist to support a toddler boy with Down syndrome in his home. This role focuses on creating connection, supporting development, and providing safe, attentive care during his daily routines and playtime activities.
 
Position Summary
The Family Support Specialist will offer consistent support in the child’s home and potentially in the community. The ideal candidate enjoys working with toddlers, understands the importance of gentle structure, and brings warmth and reliability into their caregiving.
 
Schedule & Compensation
Hourly Rate: $14.13 per hour
Daily Overnight Rate: $207.45 per day
Weekly Hours: Up to 10 hours per week
Additional Care: 2 full days per month
 
About the Child
This happy, curious toddler thrives with caregivers who bring patience, engagement, and encouragement. He especially enjoys:
Exploring outdoors and going for walks
Reading and looking through books
Hands on activities such as stacking, building, and sensory play
 
Primary Responsibilities
The respite provider will support the child through:
Light housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment
Toileting assistance and other personal care needs
Simple meal preparation and support during feeding
Administering medications as needed (training can be provided)
Picking him up from school once he begins attending
Engaging him in meaningful play, companionship, and nurturing interaction
 
Ideal Candidate Profile
A strong candidate will be:
Experienced with toddlers and/or children with disabilities (personal or professional experience welcome)
Patient, warm, and dependable
Comfortable with basic caregiving duties and open to learning new skills
Able to build trust and develop a positive connection with the child over time

Requirements
Applicants must have:
A valid driver’s license
Active auto insurance
A reliable vehicle for transportation
Willingness to complete all required caregiver trainings
Ability to pass a caregiver background check
