Youth Respite Care Provider – Bloomer, WI

Active, Engaging, and Support Focused Care for a Teen with Autism

We are seeking a patient, compassionate, and adaptable respite care provider to support a young teen with autism who is creative, social, and full of personality. This one on one role centers on providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that supports emotional regulation, independence, and meaningful engagement.
If you enjoy active days, thoughtful communication, and building trust with neurodivergent youth, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact.
 
Position Overview
The respite provider will offer weekend care within their home, ensuring safety, routine, and positive engagement. Care includes supervision, emotional support, and participation in the child’s favorite activities while maintaining a calm and predictable environment.
 
Schedule
Two weekends per month, planned in advance with the family
Pick up: Friday afternoon from the family’s home in Bloomer, WI
Drop off: Sunday by 5:00 PM
Care Location: Within provider’s home
 
Compensation
$207 per overnight
$14.13 per hour (as applicable)
 
About the Teen
He is fun, creative, and enjoys a variety of activities, including:
Pokémon, anime (especially One Piece), video games, cooking, and online activities
Fishing, swimming, and hands on creative projects
Socializing and staying active

Additional considerations:
Sensitive to loud or high volume environments
May need quiet time when overstimulated or when feeling “itchy,” as he describes
May need assistance with nighttime hygiene, toileting, and medication administration
 
Key Responsibilities
Engage safely and appropriately in his interests, hobbies, and leisure activities
Assist with medication administration and nighttime toileting as needed
Support emotional regulation during challenging moments
Maintain open, respectful communication with the family
Provide consistent supervision and a safe, structured environment
 
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license
Reliable personal vehicle suitable for transporting the child
Active auto insurance
CPR/First Aid certification (preferred)
Experience supporting youth with autism or ADHD (highly recommended)
Patient, flexible, and committed to providing supportive care
