This is a heartwarming opportunity for compassionate providers who love making a difference! We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.

Youth Respite Provider – Safety, Support & Supervision

We are seeking a reliable, creative, and compassionate respite care provider to support a child with developmental disabilities. This role goes beyond basic childcare—our ideal provider will be able to step into her imaginative world, encourage new experiences, and help her feel safe and supported while having fun.
 
Pick-Up Location: Cornell, WI
Starting Wage: $17.66/hour
Schedule: Thursday & Friday Afternoons + 2 weekends a month
 
Responsibilities
Provide direct care and supervision in a safe, supportive manner
Plan and engage in fun, age-appropriate activities (In the community or your home as the provider)
Support the child’s interests (such as Roblox, Minecraft, and video games)
Encourage and model positive coping skills in new or potentially stressful situations
Use creativity and imagination to interact with her “special” characters as though they are real
Provide meals/snacks as needed
Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor, especially during moments of stress or sensory triggers

Child’s Preferences & Needs
Likes: Roblox, Minecraft, video games
Dislikes: Forklifts, sudden loud noises
Triggers: Loud noises may cause panic attacks—provider must remain calm and supportive
Important: No adult-themed conversations (e.g., politics, health care debates, etc.)

Qualities We’re Looking For
Active imagination and willingness to engage in creative play
Calm, patient, and steady presence
Enthusiastic about small achievements and everyday fun
Encouraging and supportive—able to frame new or scary situations in a positive way
Common sense, maturity, and professionalism
Respectful of family’s open communication style

Requirements
Must be LGBTQ+ friendly
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance
Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Experience working with children with developmental disabilities preferred
