Description & Requirements
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable individual to provide respite care for a bright young girl with autism and ADHD. This role goes beyond basic supervision—it's an opportunity to become a supportive mentor and guide as she builds confidence.
In this part-time position, you will work closely with the child, supporting her through engaging routines and hands-on learning experiences that foster practical life skills. From meal preparation to hygiene routines, you’ll play an active role in helping her learn and grow in a nurturing environment.
Location:
Care to be provided in the child’s home.
Compensation:
$18.42 per hour
Schedule:
Flexible and arranged in advance with the managing party (parent/guardian)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 supervision
- Assist and teach daily living tasks such as hygiene routines, meal preparation, and light household chores
- Support the child in gaining independence through positive reinforcement
- Encourage social-emotional development through structured play, and consistent routines
- Build a warm, encouraging relationship
- Maintain open communication with the family to share progress
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience supporting children with disabilities or neurodiverse needs (autism and/or ADHD preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, and consistency
- Ability to follow and adapt individualized care plans
- Comfort with teaching and encouraging life skills in a step-by-step manner
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a caregiver background check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Passion for working with youth and making a meaningful impact
