Respite Provider
Description & Requirements
Seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Respite Provider to provide companionship, support, and supervision to a young boy with special needs. The Child Respite Provider’s role is essential in ensuring the well-being and safety of the child while allowing the main caregivers the necessary breaks they need for self-care. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, reliable, and trustworthy.
This boy loves playing outside in the backyard. He also likes animals, arts and crafts, and using his tablet.
Location: Holcombe, WI
Pay: $14.13 per hour
Schedule: 6 hours per week – FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING (days, afternoons, evenings, wknds) Potential to increase hours/possible overnights.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal cares as needed (dressing, toileting/changing diaper)
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive engagement.
- Be mindful of behaviors and redirect when necessary.
- Observe and report any changes in the clients' physical or emotional conditions to family as needed.
- Foster a positive relationship with the client and his family, providing emotional support as needed.
Skills:
- Experience working with clients with autism
- Communication skills: ability to anticipate non-verbal cues/prompts
- Strong observational skills to monitor the boy.
- A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in Health Sciences, Special Education (teachers or paraprofessionals) preferred.
